At the 2018 World Invention and Innovation Forum (WIIF), held from September 13-15 in Foshan, China, the Smart Vent project from Capanema, Paraná, Brazil, stood out on the global stage. Sponsored by the China Association of Inventions and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), the event showcased over 4,000 inventions from 52 countries.
Under the theme “Inventions Make Dreams Come True, Innovation Leads the Trends for Tomorrow,” WIIF 2018 was one of the largest innovation platforms in the world, featuring 350 delegations and international organizations, as well as Nobel laureates George Smoot and Luc Antoine Montagnier, who delivered keynote speeches on the future of science and technology.
In this highly competitive environment, Smart Vent, a low-cost ventilation solution, earned the prestigious Gold Medal in the Low-Cost Technology category. This achievement not only brought international recognition to the project but also highlighted Brazil’s innovation capabilities on a global scale. The award reaffirms the importance of accessible and transformative solutions with the potential to improve lives worldwide. Smart Vent’s victory is a proud moment for Capanema and Brazil, demonstrating the country’s leadership in technology and innovation, even on a global competitive stage.
