Sponsored by the China Association of Inventions and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), the event showcased over 4,000 inventions from 52 countries.

Under the theme “Inventions Make Dreams Come True, Innovation Leads the Trends for Tomorrow,” WIIF 2018 was one of the largest innovation platforms in the world, featuring 350 delegations and international organizations, as well as Nobel laureates George Smoot and Luc Antoine Montagnier, who delivered keynote speeches on the future of science and technology.

In this highly competitive environment, Smart Vent, a low-cost ventilation solution, earned the prestigious Gold Medal in the Low-Cost Technology category. This achievement not only brought international recognition to the project but also highlighted Brazil’s innovation capabilities on a global scale. The award reaffirms the importance of accessible and transformative solutions with the potential to improve lives worldwide. Smart Vent’s victory is a proud moment for Capanema and Brazil, demonstrating the country’s leadership in technology and innovation, even on a global competitive stage.

IFPR Makes History at 42nd Reditec with Smart Vent Project https://roboticx.org/ifpr-makes-history-at-42nd-reditec-with-smart-vent-project/ Sun, 11 Aug 2024 02:29:14 +0000 https://roboticx.org/?p=238 The Smart Vent project from IFPR-Capanema made history by becoming the first project from Paraná to be approved for the Technology Tent at the 42nd Reditec, the Annual Meeting of Leaders of Federal Institutions. This innovative, low-cost automated ventilation system for small poultry farms, developed by students under Professor Edimaldo de Oliveira, stood out among 41 projects from 23 institutions.

André Dengo, a key member, emphasized the project’s impact: “Our goal was to provide a vital resource to small farmers at an affordable cost. Recognition at Reditec validates our hard work and dedication.”

The project reduces energy costs by 30% and is poised for wider implementation in local farms, with the potential to revolutionize small-scale agriculture across Brazil.

IFPR-Capanema’s Smart Vent Project Wins Global Innovation Award at Innovacities https://roboticx.org/smart-vent-project-wins-global-innovation-award-at-innovacities/ https://roboticx.org/smart-vent-project-wins-global-innovation-award-at-innovacities/#comments Wed, 07 Aug 2024 16:36:04 +0000 https://roboticx.org/?p=1 The IFPR-Capanema team, led by Professor Edimaldo de Oliveira, has been awarded the Alireza Rastegar Global Innovation Trophy at Innovacities 2024. Their project, Smart Vent, is an affordable automated ventilation system designed for small-scale poultry farmers. This system, developed by students André Dengo, Murilo Hentz, Samuel Pontes, and Kellerman Godarth, reduces energy costs by 30% and costs under $500, offering a more accessible alternative to expensive commercial solutions.

The project stemmed from challenges identified at the 2017 IFAgrotech event and aims to provide critical ventilation for poultry farms, reducing the risk of livestock loss due to overheating. Smart Vent uses Arduino technology for easy implementation and is poised for practical deployment.

During Innovacities, the team showcased a model of the system, emphasizing its low-cost and efficient design. The project was praised for its potential to revolutionize small-scale farming, and the students’ commitment was highlighted by IFIA President Marcelo Vivacqua.

Looking ahead, the team plans to install the system in local farms and expand its reach. André Dengo, one of the students, shared his excitement about contributing to the agricultural community and his aspirations to further his studies in computer science.
